The Perfect Pendant to Share Your Story- Part 2 of 2

In the first part of this blog we shared with you the ideas behind the pendant design our friend wanted to wear to an event at the temporary city erected in a desert in northwest Nevada, whose name we were informed we must not use for any profit making endeavor. We were also asked to removed any visibility of their logo which we did. In the first part of the Blog we talked about making sure the stone fit perfectly so that it did not move around or get crushed. Keeping any stone safe is a number one priority. Once that part was done cutting the outside was a lot easier.

Here is a video of how we support the wood while cutting it.

The back of the ebony pendant is almost done

Once all the details were cut on the back and the front of the pendant, the sprues were cut off and finished smooth. We discovered a clever way to press diamonds into ebony so that they stay. We accented the stars in the constellation with them and also enhanced the flower on the other side with a diamond in its center.

On the front of the pendant the diamonds are a symbol of the stars in the astrological constellation

the front and back were screwed together to make sure they fit before putting in the gem

We made screws to hold the two sides together and loops on which to attach the silver chain. From here on out our friend can cut different stones and replace them by simply unscrewing the pendant apart. We used a highly polished cutter which left the ebony satiny smooth.

We shot this photo in the sun to show off the CZ

As you can imagine to dream up this design required the combined effort of all of us. The credit for putting all the different ideas into a cohesive beautiful design belongs to talented and hard working Gregore. Thanks too to our friends who believe in the arts and in us! We plan on making sweet small ebony pendants with one’s constellation accented by diamonds.
