Custom Designed Engagement Rings From Us For You In Santa Barbara part 2 of 2
Part 1 of 2 of this blog was posted earlier and separate from this one because we had enough completed work that we didn’t want to bore or overwhelm. As I mentioned earlier, making custom engagement rings for David Gross is a pleasure and a huge challenge. He really ups our game which is very satisfying to passionate jewelers like us. He asks for excellent work and we are happy to please.
Yellow sapphires are sought after. It is one of my favorite colors, and the saturation and tone of this one is very intense. The yellow gold setting enhances the yellow stone. In the same way the platinum enhances the white diamonds.
CAD does not solve all your problems. After the ring was cast, in 2 parts, yellow gold and platinum, we had to resolve how to set the shoulder diamonds. The point is that CAD is often deceptive on what the physical item really looks like and how everything will work together. Also in particular, though not used here, prongs can be more beautiful when soldered on as wire after the item is cast.
A signature style for us is a substantial shank made up of flowing lines.
There is no question that the color of this pink sapphire is unique and gorgeous. I also like how there are two styles of pave’ on the same ring, “knife-edge” around the sapphire and “bright-cut” on the shank.
The three quarter view reveals a nice surprise, the bezel set diamonds between the top and bottom gallery.
Here is another signature style for us, a “floating” head or no under bridge on the ring. Gregory used this same style for my engagement ring which is very novel.
